DataNova’s launch in Denmark: Building a market entry with the right partner

When DataNova — a Swedish distributor of smart home solutions and garden robots — expanded into Denmark, it marked an important step in its growth. Entering a new market required more than a single key hire; it meant quickly establishing a local organization and operational setup.

What began as a search for a Sales & Operations Manager soon developed into a broader partnership, with WaveCrest supporting the foundation of DataNova’s Danish business.

From recruitment brief to operational setup

With strong success in Sweden, DataNova aimed to replicate its momentum in Denmark. This required local expertise, the right first hires, and a functioning operational structure from day one.

Initially engaged for recruitment, WaveCrest’s role expanded to building the operational backbone of DataNova Denmark as WaveCrest supported the launch with workforce management and business infrastructure building.

This included recruitment, HR processes, labor-related matters, and practical arrangements such as phone, credit card, and leasing solutions. The setup allowed DataNova to focus on commercial activities from the outset, accelerating time to market while reducing cost and risk.

“When entering a new market, success is not just about hiring the right people — it’s about creating the right setup around them. Our role was to make sure DataNova could focus on growing the business, while we built the structure to support it.”

Fast execution with an agile approach

The collaboration moved quickly. From first contact in October 2025 to having the first key hire in place by January 2026, DataNova’s Danish operation was established on an accelerated timeline.

Rather than following a rigid plan, the process was agile and trust-based. As needs evolved, decisions were made quickly with close alignment between both teams. WaveCrest combined structured recruitment methods with hands-on execution, using personality and cognitive assessments to ensure strong hires and team dynamics.

A partnership built on trust

For Jonas Ptak, Sales & Operations Manager at DataNova Denmark, the collaboration stood out because of the people behind it. From the start, he experienced professionalism, openness, and a genuine sense of partnership — key factors in a fast-moving launch environment.

“It’s really about the relationship and trust. I felt safe, comfortable, and supported the whole way through — and that’s what made the collaboration work so well.”

- Jonas Ptak, Sales & Operations Manager, DataNova Denmark

By combining recruitment, HR, operational support, and local market understanding, WaveCrest helped DataNova establish itself quickly and credibly in Denmark. Rather than acting as a detached advisor, WaveCrest operated as an active partner — supporting the business until it was ready to run independently.
